On the Cersaie 2026 show floor, VitrA Tiles walked trade visitors through its new innovations and The Code concept, with Material Intelligence as the guiding lens.
Bologna, Italy: Among the exhibitors at Cersaie 2026, the international show for bathroom furnishings and ceramic tiles staged in Bologna, Italy on 21-25 September, was VitrA Tiles, whose stand received customers, architects, designers and trade professionals. Built around Material Intelligence, the exhibit gave the brand its platform for launching the 2027 collections together with a series of innovations.
“Every material has a code. Material Intelligence deciphers it.” That line underpins the whole VitrA Tiles design philosophy, in which naturally occurring materials are reinterpreted by pairing research and advanced technology with design expertise. Taking nature’s aesthetic promise and technical potential a step further, VitrA Tiles converts them into distinctive surfaces intended to spark new ideas for contemporary architecture.

Design Languages on Display
Visitors to Cersaie could find three collections at the VitrA Tiles booth: Resincode, Metacode and Geocode, each born from one of the three design languages expressed by The Code concept.
Resincode takes the porous, mineral-rich texture found in natural concrete as its reference, adding soft natural transitions plus a layered depth of surface effect that gives contemporary interiors a balanced, minimalist and refined finish. Geocode looks to marble, limestone, gneiss and quartzite from Spain, giving natural stone’s diverse geological heritage a contemporary reading on ceramic, in four distinct surface typologies: Alba, Imperio, Merano and Rio. Metacode offers three distinct surfaces in copper, gold and iron tones, bringing the muted glints and gentle colour shifts of aged, patinated metal to ceramic and setting an industrial edge against refined elegance.

Technology Highlights
Beyond the new collections, the VitrA Tiles stand at Cersaie 2026 also featured two innovations, V-Flex and V-Tone.
Drawing on Ceraloc®, the locking technology devised by Välinge, V-Flex lets tiles be installed with no adhesive whatsoever. Purpose-made side profiles lock the tiles together mechanically, and compared with conventional glued methods, fitting is claimed to be as much as five times quicker. Tilers get exact alignment, consistent grout lines and a tidy, professional finish. If a tile needs attention, it can be taken out and swapped individually, a significant advantage when it comes to maintenance and repair. Acoustic comfort comes as an added benefit. Suitable settings for V-Flex, according to the company, include shops and store chains, educational facilities, hotels, showrooms, offices and commercial spaces.

Aimed at the shade differences that occur in ceramic manufacturing, V-Tone keeps colour and design integrity consistent from surface to surface. VitrA Tiles is still in the process of bringing V-Tone technology onto its production lines.
