7 Ways to Upgrade Your Kitchen under a Budget

SHARE

Are you looking to upgrade your kitchen? Do you have anything in mind? Upgrading the kitchen into something luxurious is a dream-come-true for most people, but what about the budget?

The question is, do you have a high budget to add all those extravagant things to your kitchen? If not, you’ve come to the right place. In this article today, I’m going to share with you some of the best tips and tricks to upgrade your kitchen while staying under a budget.

A Theme

A theme or a color scheme is crucial whenever upgrading or designing a space. It can help you maintain the element of coherence. There’s not much that you need to do, simply look for kitchen themes online and stick to one till the end.

Take care of the size of your kitchen when choosing a theme. For example, if your kitchen is small, you should go for a subtle theme. On the other hand, if your kitchen is big enough to walk around, you can go with a dark theme.

Wallpaper

First and foremost, you need to work on the walls. It’s going to be a major change, something that will make your kitchen entirely new. Yes, you can get the walls painted as well, but wall paint is usually quite expensive whereas wallpaper is relatively cheap.

There is a huge variety of wallpapers available in the markets these days. From geometric designs to Egyptian prints, you can have your way with the colors. Oh, and make sure to take care of the theme when choosing the wallpaper.

Innovative Appliances

It’s true that a kitchen remains incomplete without the necessary appliances. Most people only purchase regular appliances like refrigerators, water dispensers, fire ranges, and more. Yes, they’re essential, but they are not going to upgrade your kitchen in any way.

What you need to do is invest in some new and innovative kitchen appliances. It’s a practical idea, and it’s certainly better than investing in décor. You can purchase 2-3 different things, including a microwave toaster oven combo, a waffle maker, and a juice factory. Trust me; you’ll thank the Lord for this later.

Artwork

Speaking of upgrading a space, how can you possibly forget about artwork? You may not agree with it now, but art has the power to make everything worth looking at. You can make your kitchen extravagant by adding a few amazing art pieces to it; for example, an abstract painting, a mini sculpture, or a ceramic vase for the breakfast table.

The best part of the story is that you can find a number of incredible art pieces in thrift stores. From paintings to wall decorative items as well as ceramic pots and vases, thrift markets have a lot in store for you. Thus, the budget shouldn’t be an issue here.

Customized Jars

A little step that can make a big difference to your kitchen, get those jars customized. What’s the first thing that you notice when entering a kitchen, isn’t it the jars on display? Well, that is what attracts me the most.

You can buy some amazing jars that are customized, maybe something written on the glass or the lids. You can also buy a few plain glass jars and paint them yourself. It doesn’t need to be artistic, anything abstract would do the trick.

Indoor Plants

Have you ever thought about keeping indoor plants? Have a look at the celebrity house tour videos on YouTube, and you’ll see how they have indoor plants everywhere in the house. Some of them also happen to have large indoor kitchen gardens.

When upgrading your kitchen, you can purchase a few shade-loving plants to keep around. Contrary to the popular belief that plants attract bugs, there are a lot of plants and herbs that actually repel bugs. Go for mint, basil, or lavender if you need a bug repellent plant for your kitchen.

Lighting

Last but not least, take care of the lighting. There’s no point in investing so much money if the lighting is not up to the mark. Bad lighting can make anything look terrible, even the most extravagant space.

Since lights are usually expensive, it is a tricky part. Look for ceiling lamps and wall scones online, preferably in thrift shops. I am sure you’ll find plenty of options; all you need to do is research well and make an effort. You can also visit your local markets and buy wall lights at a reasonable cost with a little bargain. It is worth a try.

Following the tips mentioned above, you can surely upgrade your kitchen on a minimal budget.  What else do you need anyway? It is especially helpful for people living in a rented place. After all, why would you want to spend money on a place that isn’t yours at the end of the day?
